Flordia Boxing Hall of Fame 2011
The Florida Boxing Hall of Fame will formally announce the inductees of the Class of 2011 on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 3:00 PM, as part of the Grand Opening festivities of the new SJC Boxing Gym, in Fort Myers, Florida. Many of the new inductees, as well as previous inductees of the FBHOF, will be on hand and available for interviews, autographs, and photographs during this fun filled weekend. The SJC Boxing Gym, a non profit organization, will be celebrating their official Grand Opening on Saturday and Sunday, January 15 & 16, 2011, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM each day. Many activities will take place, such as book signings, videos, door prizes, 50/50 raffles, public workouts, and seminars. There will be refreshments for all and everyone is invited. The gym is located at 1929 Winkler Ave., Fort Myers, Florida. Glen Johnson and John Russell (trainer of Buster Douglas) will also be on hand, as well as several other celebrities. Chavez new fighter
Top-10 contender Pawel “Raging Bull” Wolak will be In Harm’s Way on Saturday, December 4, when he challenges undefeated WBC Silver middleweight champion Julio César Chávez, Jr. in a 12-round title fight. Wolak replaces the injured Alfonso Gomez, Chávez’s original opponent, who withdrew today after an MRI detected a ligament tear in his left elbow.
Trainer shot wife now on the run Martin
Former female world champion Christy Martin has been admitted to Florida Hospital North in Orlando, Florida, with a gunshot and stab wounds in the torso and left leg. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Martin informed authorities that the attacker was her husband Jim Martin. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is now searching for Martin, who is also Christy’s trainer.
